What is Animatober?
Animatober stands for Animation + October. We celebrate Halloween in a creative way – with an Instagram challenge that anyone can take part in and an animated film festival in Berlin for high-quality short films.
Why Halloween?
Halloween gives us the freedom to be anything we can imagine – ghost, witch, zombie or superhero. It’s a day full of imagination, creativity and courage. Animatober reflects exactly that: the freedom to create our own worlds through animation, without rules or boundaries.
Our genesis
The idea was born in October 2024 when we invited creative minds on Instagram to share their animated works. With great success and enthusiasm, Animatober grew into an event that celebrates Halloween in an animated way!
Why October and Halloween?
October is the month of pumpkins, ghosts and boundless imagination. Halloween gives us the freedom to be anything we want – a witch, a ghost or a zombie. This creative freedom is at the heart of Animatober. Just like on Halloween, you can live it to the full in our challenge or at the festival – with no right or wrong!
